UPDATE: Yesterday, April 17, 2021 forty-two out of 45 police forces in Ontario refused to obey Premier Doug Ford’s corona order to randomly stop vehicles and pedestrians and ask them why they were outside of their homes. 🤩
Whenever I see “the mask” in open space, I can’t wait for the comment or gesture. I never get it. Probably because people can feel my “make my day” attitude. As the truth continues to be exposed regarding the origins of this virus, who was behind it and why it’s the reason they can’t get their Covid guidance to make sense, the revolution will begin.
I love it! Give as good as you get! That story is a perfect example of your description of learned helplessness. The government will save us! I chuckle when I see people outside or in their car (alone!) wearing masks. It’s their choice, so fine. But when they take it upon themselves to be the mask Gestapo it goes over the line. I just ask, “do you believe in the magic of the mask? If so, then move along.” When I’m in church I’m the only person not wearing a mask. There’s a ventilation system running, people are more than six feet away and there aren’t more than 8 people in that minimum six foot radius. I’ve gotten both shots so I’m going with the vaccine science. When I’m outside I refuse to wear a mask. I think in larger metro areas, the whole mask thing is virtue signaling and people take pride in their obedience to the the flip-flopping government and left wing media hectoring. Keep up that feistiness!
Thank you for this. As someone who lives near DC and has had to wander into the city from time to time, I find myself biting my tongue so often it's a surprise I still have one. I recall leaving an event on Capitol Hill last October and seeing the random outside mask person walking - alone - on an empty city block in the neighborhood. I wanted so badly to just slow down and ask him why. I wanted so badly to understand if he truly thinks COVID is this giant green cloud that floats from one unsuspecting victim to the next. I didn't, of course. But even recently, after all we know... they still do it. I realize now it has nothing to do with science, or data, or facts. It's performative. And it angers me so much! Anyhow, thank you for this. It made my day to know there are many others who feel this frustration. Like someone below said - I'm just waiting for one of these hacks to say something to me. Sadly I haven't had a chance. ;-)
The tolerant and supremely educated, well read, well informed liberal. Ha! That has be the biggest joke of our time. Your internal thought process and gut reaction is familiar, you aren’t alone. I’m the exact same way. I see these people and wonder what they are thinking. Are they thinking? No. No they aren’t, they are doing as they’re told. Aren’t you able to critically analyze the situation, challenging what you’re told? But, wait- you are highly educated? In our area (I live in Silver Spring) the majority is liberal, college educated, with a higher than average percentage with masters. But you people act so dumb! You believe in science, right?
Well science & medicine has determined that you must in sustained or cumulative contact with an infected person in a confined space. Passing one another outside? No, you fool! Like you said Emily, it’s not pollen. I struggle with letting people be themselves and not let their ignorance get to me. I remind myself not to be passive aggressive, but when they lash out like your coward did? Well, I say ‘bring it’. So good on you Emily. I would react the same way. I hope that man had a moment of pause.

Excellence Post, I'm living in Idaho and just traveled to Washington State once I entered the state they have flashing billboards " vaccinated or not please mask up" no I'm not kidding, so I stop to fuel up and there was a Mcdonals next door so I went to order some food, I place my order, paid for my order then the mange handed me a mask and stated " please put the mask on so we can give you your food, not kidding and the order was to go...Now I'm not even going to talk about driving down the road and notice other drivers alone in the car with a mask on....
