Thank you for writing about General Powell. I hope it's okay if I offer you my condolences. I knew enough about General Powell to know I respect him and always will. As for letting General Powell win all the arguments... I think that General Powell respected and admired you for having the courage of standing your ground when you thought it was needed. I know I do... because authentic self is always the best.

Hi Emily, Thanks for sharing a side of General Powell we did not see. You were his friend, let me tell you what this man whom I never met meant to me. I’m thankful that I live in a country and during a time of peace and safety because of what General Powell had a hand in creating. I am safe because of an Army he commanded. Before our country was plunged in calamity from Clinton, Pompeo & now Blinkin, we once had a top diplomat, second to none in Colin Powell. I’m grateful he had friends like you, the type of family support he had… Without those things, America would not have had Gen. Powell.

If you meet his family, please let them know there are those of us who will never have the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ but we (me) feel a loss with his passing.

Thanks so much for sharing a bit of General Powell. For the longest time I was upset with him because of his change in political convictions. I guess like you, we can all agree to disagree. May General Powell rest in peace. I'm so thankful for his service and devotion to the US.

Colin part 1

I had read bits & pieces of your article/essay last year. After seeing your photo of Colin's headstone at the wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery last month, I knew I had to read it AGAIN, but this time try not to cry for Colin's family who lost a great husband, father & grandfather. . .but for you, also.

I made it to your line "Still, I was not expecting him to die today of COVID."

I started to leak, first one or two tears, then now I can barely read the words on the computer screen. I'm crying tears & I don't understand or know WHY I am crying. I never met Colin. I deeply respected him for his service & wished I had met him & spoke with him as I did with USMC Lt. Col. Oliver North in 1991. So WHY am I crying ? I simply asked the HOLY SPIRIT "please show me".

JESUS before He was crucified prayed with such intensity, that HE sweat drops of blood (Luke 22:44). Paul talked about having "birth pangs" in his letter to the church of Galatia in Galatians 4:19. "My little children, for whom I am again suffering birth pangs until Christ is completely and permanently formed (molded) within you." Paul knew his mission in life was to teach others about JESUS CHRIST so INTENTLY, that when the wolves wearing sheep's clothing snuck into the church, the believers would discern and know the TRUTH from the wolves lies.

Often prayer warriors, will experience the physical pain, & sometimes the sorrow, the loss that the person they are praying for, is experiencing. Yes, the HOLY SPIRIT prays through us (Romans 8:26-28) but often when we pray we don't "get it". What is it that we don't "get" ? We don't "get" that we should "press in" in our prayers & pray for them as if we were the one who was hurting physically, emotionally or spiritually.

Colin Part 2

My gut tells me that each year during the wreath laying, you have seen a mother weeping for her son or daughter who was killed, & then your heart breaks for her & you began crying, also. That's what is happening right now for you...the HOLY SPIRIT is praying though me for you.

I may be wrong, but I feel in my heart when you came down with Covid, you felt disappointed in yourself, that you got Covid. You have remained STRONG for Colin. You did your best to keep your immune system strong & you stayed in great physical shape by running each day. Yet, deep down it brought back memory's of the day Colin was diagnosed with Covid. It hurt you deeply to see your genuinely beloved friend struggle with health issues. And then finally when the news broke that Colin had passed away. . . . it shook you to the core.

Please don't take my words as condemnation or judgment. My heart is just the opposite: words of comfort, grace and peace. I believe the HOLY SPIRIT touched my heart to pray for you & to let you know that ABBA FATHER has seen your tears . . . sorrow . . . loss. ABBA is deeply touched that you had such a pure and deep AGAPE love for Colin and his family. Not many people in the world, let alone in the church, have a pure and deep AGAPE love for someone as you do for Colin. ABBA put HIS love in your heart !

Know that JESUS is interceding for you right now at ABBA FATHER's right hand (Romans 8:34) & HE is moved because of your great AGAPE love for Colin and his precious family.
