Join me on Substack Notes Where I Have a Checkmark
My new, primary social media platform with my subscribers where I post content that is not on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
As I mentioned in my recent story, Substack’s “Notes” is the new social media platform that freaked out Elon Musk. He retaliated against Substack by shadowbanning links to our stories on Twitter. This is all about Musk wanting writers to move their newsletters to Twitter, which none of us are doing.
Just for Subscribers:
I’m embracing using Notes as my primary way to share with you the things that don’t fit a whole newsletter— like breaking news, photos or quick questions. I will post content on Notes for my subscribers that I don’t put on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram.
Let’s start with this: Which of these candies from the 1980s is your favorite? Click on the note below to answer:
How to Join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app (see below.)
As a subscriber to Emily Posts News, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them. Here’s one from today:
You can also share Notes of your own! I hope this becomes a space where every reader of Emily Posts News can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from what we're reading on Substack and beyond.
Free speech controversy:
Substack’s co-founder
got into a public tussle for saying they will have limited content moderation on Notes. Writers threatened to leave the platform. Substack’s other co-founded addressed the policy here:Personally, I have found Notes so far to be totally civil and respectful, like you’d find on Linkedin. But you can block or mute people if you don’t want to see them or debate. You can also decide whose notes you read. Click “home” at the top to see everyone or click “subscribed” to only see writers from posts you follow.
Blue and Orange Checkmarks:
Update on my story about my Twitter blue check: Musk purged all of the legacy blue checks on Saturday. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to pay to get it back and be verified. It seems it has become a political dividing line — liberal activists are refusing the blue check and conservatives are buying them.
But, more importantly, I have an orange check mark on Substack Notes, which means I have paid subscribers. So thanks for giving me the check!
PS: You’ll notice it looks more like Facebook than Twitter in the way you scroll and see a post and the comments under it, rather than above. If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. If you have any questions and can’t find Notes, ask me in the comments. I made them open to everyone:

I'm glad this is available
If Revue still exists, then in my opinion Musk is going to milk it anyway.
