The common theme running through all the issues of the day: masks, vaccines, climate change, and pronouns, is all about other people, especially the State, being WAY too much interested in MY conduct rather than their OWN conduct.

If a person is worried about getting sick, by all means, wear a mask or a space suit, get vaccinated quarterly, stay at home like the late Howard Hughes and wear Kleenex boxes for shoes. But NO. They are strangely more interested in what I am doing.

About pronouns, parse the exact words of your Linkedin prompt:

"Show your pronouns on your profile to let OTHERS know how to refer to you."

Again, notice how this is all about controlling the conduct of OTHERS. You have to "let them know" how THEY must refer to you.

How about everyone stop being so strangely interested in ME and MY conduct? How about each person engage in their own lunacies and traditions and leave it at that. Handle snakes and speak in tongues if you like. Refer to yourself howsoever you choose. Call yourself Napoleon or His Majesty if you like.

Of course, the counter-argument is that everything, and lately that means EVERYTHING, I do affects everyone else. But my counter-counter-argument is that everything one demands of others likewise affects everyone else. So how about ending this vicious cycle of sticking one's nose into everyone else's business, because what goes around comes around.

I will follow your lead. Until now, I’ve ignored such prompts. After reading your thoughts, I asked myself why I refrain from expressing myself? I too have updated my Linked In.

Post Script. I am grateful to be in your readership.

Love it! No/No. Our bureaucracy is the theater of the absurd. The behavioral damage they caused was intentional. It’s all about control. We just need to punch them in the mouth. Figuratively of course!

the first thought that popped into my head was: "You go girl!" I am so tired of wearing a stupid mask in my DC office and I refuse to go into any business that asks me to show a vax card.

The fear is so irrational. I look out from my office over the empty lot along 1st ST SE at M St and can't believe how many people are walking their dogs outside with masks covering their faces. I even saw a woman riding a bike share with a mask on. All I could think of was her passing out from lack of O2.

I like your response Emily. I've actually been meaning to update my LinkenIn profile just because it has been a few years. Are they requiring this to be filled in? I've had no intention of ever providing anything for these because the whole idea is so absurd. Aside from thinking that it's possible to even be "non-binary" (aside from some rare chromosomal abnormalities, which is not at all what is driving this), the idea of everyone coming up with individual pronouns would render us entirely unable to communicate. The entire language would sound like complete jibberish. People who care about this must be so self-absorbed if they can't realize this. Let alone the idea of compelling other people to use "your" pronouns whenever they're referring to you, particularly when we're talking about 3rd-person pronouns meaning they may not even be present.

But IF I ever provided these for whatever reason, I'd come up with the most confusing and ridiculous things I can possibly think of. I'd also come up with my own adjectives and demand that people use them whenever describing me.

I love it Emily! I think we should start a new campaign! #NO/NO!! It speaks not only to the idiocracy of the “pronoun race BUT to ALL you just wrote about as well!

Hmmm....The descriptive pronouns I would use are not available because they use typically military obscenities as a matter of custom. I'm only putting the normal ones in under duress

I strongly object to pandering to someone's mental illness. I will not act as if I hear voices in my head just to make someone more comfortable. This is the same thing.

As for "following the science”, those people have a very strange relationship with science.
