I asked Santa Fe sheriff today about the FBI forensics report on the gun and bullet Baldwin used and the spokesman said it hasn’t come back to them yet. It was supposed to be done by late Feb. I asked when he expected it but didn’t get an answer. There will not be an end to the investigation until forensics are done.

I wrote a deep dive into the new court filings from BALDWIN’S lawyer for the civil suit with Hutchins. A lot of new information on the shooting.

This OpEd by a prosecutor is a great explanation of New Mexico laws on manslaughter

We know where I stand on thinking he might be charged. I don't think it has taken longer than usual, each case is different.

From the NBC Interview -- Matt Hutchins said seeing Alec Baldwin speak about his wife's death on television enraged him.

"Watching him I just felt so angry," Hutchins told Hoda. "I was just so angry to see him talk about her death so publicly in such a detailed way and then to not accept any responsibility after having just described killing her."

Widower Matthew Hutchins's first interview on Thursday is going to be riveting. He said this about Alec Baldwin:

“The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to discharge is not responsible is absurd to me.”

Yes, and not just because he’s famous, also because he’s an A-List A-H*le.

He will only be charged if our prayers are answered 🙏🏻

Yes, I think it’s taking a long time because he has a high powered attorney and he’s famous, I think he should be charged with a crime, the only way I know about this is because of you Emily, thank you for keeping me and everyone else informed.

I figure he'll plead guilty to some lesser, misdemeanor charge and get community service. A tried and true liberal strategy for dealing with scandalous behavior is to drag it out as long as they can. This takes the sharp edge off the outrage. Had they let him plead to sharply reduced charges when it first happened there would have been backlash. When they do it, there will barely be a ripple. People convicted of bad checks lose their gun rights - my money says that this man who killed one person and wounded another won't lose his.

One can not be both a novice and an expert.

For example: I am very knowledgeable about golf. I am very familiar with the size and weight of a golf ball. I know how fast I can swing a club, and the speed and energy the ball will launch when struck by my club. I am thus an expert. Then let's say someone were to hand me what they claim is a gag golf ball, that will break into dust when hit. As a joke, I hit the ball in another golfer's direction to make him duck, so we can all get a laugh when the ball explodes in a puff. Only the ball turns out to be real. It strikes the other golfer in the head and kills him. Can I then claim to be a novice, as someone else handed me the ball, and told me it wasn't real?

As a producer, definitely. He should be. I am an actor, and honestly, originally I had hoped he wouldn't be charged as an actor because I could see myself in his situation. I had been defending him. Then it came out he wasn't supposed to pull the trigger in the scene, and, he then claimed he DIDN'T pull the trigger in the interview. Now, if my understanding of the weapon used in the scene is correct, there is no way there could have been an accidental discharge without him pulling the trigger. It just doesn't work that way. So, he lied and he lied for a reason. So to me.. he loses all credibility and now I want to see him charged for firing the weapon.

I do think it's taking longer because he's famous, but it seems like that's partly (but definitely not entirely) due to the need to be as thorough as possible with any high-profile case. But, did you see the story in the NY Post about two days ago about the DA saying that it's plausible that he did not pull the trigger? That makes me think that she is either completely ignorant about the gun in question, or is desperately trying to come up with some justification for not filing charges.

You really have to read that report if you haven't yet. The DA and a couple investigators "tested" an UNLOADED gun (the actual one from the shooting, the way the story reads) and pulled the hammer back just the short distance before reaching the first cocking position. I'm sure anyone following this story has seen one of the many demonstrations on Youtube and elsewhere showing why this gun is incapable of firing without pulling the trigger. At least one of these shows this same test being performed multiple times with a LOADED virtually identical model of the same gun. There is simply not enough force created releasing the hammer from such a short distance to cause the round to fire. It was barely enough to create a few small dimples in the primer, which were much smaller than what you would see on the primer of a round that had actually been fired. And the story mentions that official results from the FBI analysis are still pending. Perhaps that wIll refute the ridiculous "test" the DA performed. The absurdity of this story just makes me think the DA is looking for a way out of this. It's going to be difficult because I think the civil case(s) will expose his criminal culpability.

Yes I think it is taking a long time, i don’t he will be charged, and I do believe it is because of his status. He should be indicted and a jury should decide his fate. However, I don’t think he will fair very well in civil trials. Thank again I know have said many times for not letting up.

I don't care for the guy but he has every right not to speak with the sheriff. Particularly with the civil suit filed, anything said can be used against him.

"because of reasons" they seem to be stalling. there should be demands for transparency. theoretically at least Baldwin should be charged, since Hutchison's husband is a lawyer, so he probably has enough connections.

Baldwin has probably been advised by lawyer to refrain from interacting with law enforcement for this case unless lawyer is present for questioning. As for charges, probable cause needs to be established. However, Grand Jury should be convened immediately

He and the powers to be are stalling because he is a big wig democrat. That is it. I feel he will get away with this and life will move on unless more people speak up.
