Tuesday update- I still have a bad headache after 36 hours and sleeping way more than normal so I went to my doctor, who said I have a mild concussion and sent me to get a CT. My doctor said to rest and reduce screen time because it will make my headache worse, so I may be off line for a day or so, but I'm fine, just recovering. Thanks to everyone for the care and kindness. I should've listened to Roselyn in the first place and had my head checked! -Emily

As a retired cop who spent a lot of time partnering with USPark Police I love hearing these stories about them. Society tends to paint all cops with a large brush but these are our Nation’s finest men and women in Blue. Thank You for sharing your experience

a wonderful lesson with your Easter eyes, sorry it left so many bruises, very thankful you were not hurt any worst, the description you gave of these officers described all of my law enforcement friends, they serve because for them it is a calling just like that for Rev. Levenson, next year you attend Church services in person, but look both ways at the crossings running to service, Blessings Ms. Emily

I’m grateful you were not hurt too badly. I felt a measure of happiness that Sgt. Norment met someone who appreciates her. About Easter Eyes, I’m a Hindu, so I don’t know if I qualify, but I would say if I could qualify then yes, I often have occasion to look upon the world w/ Easter Eyes. There is a downside for me...guilt. I feel guilt a lot these days. When I think about how angry and resentful of everything & everyone I used to be, all the times I wronged people. Having Easter Eyes today also reveals my demons from yesterday.

What a beautiful story minus the part of you getting hurt.

Hope you're feeling better with each passing hour.

Stay well & look both ways Emily.

I am glad you're okay, Emily. Like I told you on Facebook you're my favorite reporter and the last thing I want to hear is that you were injured very badly or killed.

Excellent story. It reminded me of something that happened at a Methodist camp I was working at in central NC one summer.

The short, USA-Today version goes like this: one of my fellow counselors suffered a leg injury while we were playing an informal game of soccer at the beginning of the season.

We were a mixed bunch--Methodists, Presbyterians, Baptists, Catholics, Pentecostals--but we all took a minute to pray for her healing.

Nothing happened, to our disappointment. And when nothing happens that you're really hoping for, it's easy to indulge in some cynicism about God. 20-somethings can still be enthralled to the notion that they somehow know the best plan for God to take in any given situation.

But, throughout the summer, while she was in a leg brace, I saw everyone go out of their way to help her. Having learned that she came from a less-than-ideal family situation, this sort of care was something she had never really experienced.

I don't put it past God to work miracles, but He also has this way of using others as His hands and feet. And everyone gets a benefit from the lesson He's teaching at that moment.

I retired from a police department 6 months ago after 21 years. It always gave me a good feeling to help someone who was in your position and needed help. I would always try to convince the person that they should at least get looked at by EMTs and afterwards it would be their choice to go to the hospital or not. I don't remember anyone ever refusing that.

Glad you're alright and that you got yourself checked out. I wonder if anyone on scene got the information of the person who hit you.

Lovely story. But were foolish to not go for a scan. Had a childhood neighbor die from a "trivial" concussion. By god go see your doctor for quick checkout....
