High Grant was simply responding to the simpleton questions and the over-the-top Oscar hysteria. Probably making fun of the Hollywood narcissism.

“Upper crust” English elitism on full display; one of the reasons we left “The Crown”. Since Great Britain is one of history’s worst liars, I’m not surprised.

Thackeray’s best novel btw is “Barry Lyndon” which Director Stanley Kubrick made a wonderful film adaptation of in 1975; free now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Ad_WS6h6NJw

Want a more fair & “equitable” society? Bring back dueling. Yes - I’m serious. Two men willingly enter into a contract for an agreed upon outcome so it cannot be countenanced as murder by the State. Would separate the men from the wannabes & people would think twice before libeling one another.

I remain a man of the 18th Century stuck in the 21st.

Defending this as just British humor is lame.... he clearly treated her with disdain.

He knew exactly the kinds of questions he would be asked and chose to answer with, dead end, uninteresting replies, treating her as an underling in the grand world of his little celebrity bubble. He is a smaller man for doing so, in my opinion.

So agree, he was incredibly dismissive, and acted like a baby!

He didn’t have a movie to promote? If so, why would be even interviewed. Didn’t Grant play a bumbling fool in a 1990s movie?

Em- I just read your Tom Brady story. I have said several times that you are one of only 2 journalists I totally trust (Ms. Atkinson) and now this story shows you a great raconteur as well. I would love to sit and hear an “Emily Miller Story Hour”, just as you did with the General! Any time you are in flyover land, I will organize it!

Much respect!

Obviously, Hugh didn't want to be there, but was "forced" to by his publicist team. I've met my share of D-list actors and actresses. Some of them are genuine, but others are "professionally nice". That is, when they interact with you (i.e., me, a peasant) that are putting on a persona (they are actors, after all) which is the nice, kind generous soul who cares about you. With one actress, you could actually tell when she morphed into "nice mode". It was like she rebooted using a different operating system. However, in reality, she (and most of the rest) were not in fact nice, they were assholes 24/7. Some, on the other hand, were just tired and irritable, and were in fact nice people broken down by 14-hour days and no sleep.

For whatever reason, Hugh's "nice" software wasn't available, and he was a grouchy, tired person who didn't want to be there. And, honestly, can you blame him? What normal functioning human being could tolerate walking the red carpet and being asked the same inane questions by reporters over and over again. Unless you were an Oscar-calibre actor, you couldn't get through it without strangling some of these people. So why do it? Because his people told him he had to. For whatever reason he wasn't "on." My guess is that IRL he's probably not such a bad guy to have a beer with. But only when he wants to have that beer.

I've got a great suggestion for you--simply don't watch the Oscars (Golden Globes, etc etc)! Sorry but I don't need to waste my time listening to those entitled you-know-whats offer me their self-important opinions...

Hugh who? 🤪 He's less interesting to me than the draining of the LM Reflecting Pool.

I have zero positive comments regarding Master Grant. I will not defend him. In all honesty, though, because I have my neuropsychiatric problems and have anxiety propelled by the disdain I receive frequently from certain political and social celebrities who think I should follow their suggestions rather than do as I will freely within the bounds of the law, I would not really be over courteous to broadcast media or any other media journos, with a few exceptions because they've earned my respect. If Fox News Benjamin Hall ever wanted to engage with me, because of the way he is and the admiration I have for him, I would happily engage. I confess admiration for a lot of Fox News people...even those whose positions I disagree with. Newsmax people also would be courteously engaged with. Other people... I maintain my right under the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution to not be compelled to be a witness against my self no matter if criminal or civil. Everything we say, write, and do, can and will be used as evidence against ourselves in any and all forums judicial and otherwise

Was it necessary to describe Ashley as “plus sized model”? Why not just call her a model?
