This is the first time I've read anything about this and it's only because you wrote about it. I didn't read about this for the same reason I don't read about the royals: I have a life of my own.

So weary of hearing about forbidding assault weapons. The only problem is...to me as as a trained Infantry soldier for the United States Army, even though I'm not active duty, assault weapon simply means any object (or person) capable of destruction and damage to people and property alike. As for disallowing access to combat weapons used by military entities, this only functions for those persons who are willing to abide by the laws regarding this. Unfortunately, since it seems that individuals have proven willing and able to harm at will for whatever objective, the best way to prevent being harmed by these individuals is to have a good working understanding of human beings and how to treat all people with courtesy...and then, should you encounter one of these individuals, move towards the thickest obstacle possible between the individual who intends harm and your own self. Should you be fortunate to have a firearm for defense, I discourage attempting to reason with the subject, and aim to wound center mass. Of course, should the proper authorities be present, they have coverage for whatever happens...we as general public do not

I’m watching the trial while at work, it’s a fascinating character study. On your scale, I’m a 7 but I’m neutral about Heard and Depp. I’m interested in watching how the attorneys, litigants interact with each other. Lastly, there is a side of me that wants to see how Johnny deals with his demons.

I can honestly say that I don't give a damn about this trial. These two preening selfish (and self-righteous) individuals are everything that is wrong with Hollywood today ... and we eat it up. It says a lot about America as a society - doesn't it? They are both trash and should stay in the gutter and off our televisions.

Emily, God bless you for saving me from needing to watch that dreck. Keep in mind both of thes people get paid to not be themselves. They live in a perpetual fantasy practicing their “art.”

You wrote, “… Depp’s stellar attorney, Camille Vasquez, asks Heard if she gave the $7 million. Heard looks at the jury (to her right) and said she did. Her shocking way of lying on the stand is to say that a “pledge” to donate the money is the same as actually donating the money.

I will disagree here on this one point. If Ms Vasquez was truly “stellar” she would have followed up after Heard’s lie claiming that a “pledge” was the same as a donation.

Ms Vasquez could have simply asked Heard, “So despite your claim that you “pledged” the money did you actually write a check or transfer actual cash to these charities.” And when Heard replies, “No,” Vasquez could state that Heard just committed perjury by lying that she made the donations.

The only acting of Depp’s that I actually liked was Edward Scissorhands. Beyond that Depp has just lived in a delusion that he’s Keith Richards.

I’ve squandered far too many electrons on the matter so I’ll toss it back to you for your superb analysis, Ms Miller 😉

Greetings Ms Emily.

I would not even think of watching this particular trial. The lives of celebrities being discussed in their matters holds very little attraction for me. Celebrities are simply human beings. There's little to differ them from me. We all have human needs, wishes, emotions, and personalities. Some personalities really make me wish to urinate and defecate at more frequent intervals then other personalities, with whom I would enjoy personally interacting with. Currently I really don't have any celebrity people save very few I wish to interact with face to face and or share meals with. Unfortunately while people think I'm ambivalent towards celebrities, on my mother's side I descend from Mayflower passengers, Revolutionary War Patriots, and many famous people of royal and noble blood, including Charles Martel, Charlemagne, William The Conqueror, Rollo the Dane, and others. My royal houses of England are Plantagenet and Lancaster, from John De Gaunt. My favorite ancestor is Captain Myles Standish of the Plymouth Colony, my tenth great grandfather and from whom I inherited my temperament I believe. I've also had the honor of meeting famous people including Commissioner Gross formerly the Commissioner of the Boston Police Department. I myself do not believe I merit celebrity status. I'm happy as I am

I guess you might be curious as to why I've applied for discharge upgrade with the Army Board For Correction of Military Records. I can sum it up as Cold War and Persian Gulf War era bad paper discharge. I have the documents to prove it and have submitted. However, if the Army tries to claim there are no bad paper discharges prior to 11 September 2001, my documents and evidence prove otherwise. Let the Army argue with the records I've submitted. Some are my service treatment records, some from my official military personnel file, and a ton of all my psych evaluations. The practice of bad paper discharge predates me

I'm about a 3 in interest level also, and that's highly inflated because I live about a block from the courthouse. From my house, I can see the back side of the courthouse where the motorcade leaves from every day (the gated off area usually used to access the detention center) and we can hear the sirens and cheering every day. There are hundreds of people lining the streets around 5pm every day when they leave. It's literally about a 30 second walk out my back door and I've only gone over once, which happened to be the one day they were running late and I gave up after about 20 minutes. I do try to watch some videos just to see some highlights but there's no way I'm spending hours watching like I did with the Rittenhouse trial.

Good morning Ms Emily. Do you happen to have any way to consider elucidating on why the lives of certain celebrities are so fascinating to the public at large? Maybe considering researching the topic for yourself and writing about it? My reasons may differ from those of the professionals since like all creatures my reality and perception are forever locked inside my own mind and body, and with me having mental health issues might suffer from a distortion that is hard for me to break through for the sake of honesty and clarity.
