As I have said before, you are my favorite reporter and one day I would like to get my picture taken with my favorite reporter, as for this story it's very scary to have someone stalking you. I agree with them letting you carry a gun, I have nothing against guns, I am pro 2nd Amendment, but I cannot own a gun because of my mental state, although if I wanted to end my life I could always lie on the background check. I know this sounds morbid and I apologize, but with the way people can obtain guns is ridiculously easy. I would just like to say that when you comment on things I write it makes me feel really good that someone actually takes the time to read and answer peoples comments. Appreciate you telling the 'Boyfriend Loophole' story. It's been awhile since I read your book EGHG. It's interesting to read you post now and realize there was much more to the story about why you needed to "carry".
Good morning Emily. After reading your two posts about this issue, I don't know what bothers me the most. The total lack of professionalism from the FBI in the manner that they questioned you, the lack of concern by LE for your safety from a legitimate threat, the levels of paperwork needed, the movie producers using you as professional credentialing for a hit job movie, the lack of professional courtesy from your journalist and media peers, and your ex being a complete tool in the way that he treated you. But the cherry on top has to be Chief Lanier taking the full ninety days to approve your permit. You would think that a single mother would make a fellow women more of a priority in defending herself? Especially since you were (and are) such a high profile person.
You’re a tough, smart woman, Emily. The school of hard knocks sucks a lot sometimes - yours was up there. I was going back through some of your hellish, Soviet-style hassles with the bureaucrats and find it outrageous that political hacks run so many important offices. And the democrats want D.C. to be a state! 😂 😂
Like Darian and others, I give you much credit for writing these article. Hopefully it was a cathartic experience. And, hey, you’re not leaving the doors unlocked when you dog-sit? 😉 Seriously, I think (like the cop who lectured you) were kinda crazy to approach those guys, but ultimately it worked out. Crappy experiences the whole way around - but you prevailed and, well, here you are! 👍
