Alas, masks don't do anything at all, except annoy the wearer. The Cochran Review just put the final nail in the mask coffin (Feb 2023), but none of the usual suspects have noticed, as noticing has been against the law for years.

Totally agree, Emily. I am a retired Nuclear power worker, I worked in the nuclear power industry as an Instrument technician for 30 yrs. I have used anti contamination clothing and trained in its use. Fauci was right at the start about general public use on wearing masks, training even as simple as wearing one was never given to the public, it takes discipline to wear one not to touch your face, eyes and grab the mask and rub it around to scratch your nose, masks get moist and wet cloth and these contaminants soak right though the material, they have to be changed often. I see people everyday touching their face, rubbing their nose thru the mask. The best defense is vitamins, wash hands often, hand sanitizer and keeping distance. People touch their face often without realizing it.

My wife & I go around and around about what sense it makes to see Biden walking around with a mask or two. She thinks the president is setting a good example. I think he sets a doubtful tone regarding his faith in being vaccinated. In my opinion, Biden’s mask is an example of what’s wrong with us. His mask is the same wrongheaded thinking as keeping schools closed to wipe down desks, keeping restaurants closed, right next the Costco that’s open. Or Montgomery Co., that bans outdoor dining. Joe Biden, Marc Elrich... these guys demonstrate the notion of feeling safe because you stick your head in the sand.

Ehhhhh, I’m not certain you can use “essential” and “government” in the same sentence 😉 .

Good for you for taking that job and for working your way through the virus management maze. But, yeah, the flip-flopping in trying to be effective in doing what might be best for the public, and convincing them you have it under control, is frustrating. And then enduring pressures from all sides (I’d be in there somewhere!) from folks who don’t like the government telling them what to do. As has been discussed, common sense and caution go a long way to keeping yourself safe. Believe in the science of the vaccine or the magic of the mask. 🧐
