This is my first step to creating a community for help to common questions and comfort across the globe.*
I have gotten hundreds (or more) of emails, text and social media messages from people in Afghanistan who asked me for help. I know thousands of others across the U.S. are trying to keep daily contact with the terrified Americans and our Afghan Allies left behind. Our government is not responding to them, so citizens have stepped up and stand in the gap.
However, this flood of messages made me realize that each of us individually cannot keep up, but a community of shared information and encouragement is a way to have direct contact between people trapped in Afghanistan and Americans in the U.S.
I would love feedback on how to improve on this system. For now I propose this:
To those in Afghanistan — Comment below about your situation if you are able. Please do not use your real name so the Taliban cannot identify you. We know you are in hiding and do not want to put you in any more danger. We mostly just want you to read messages of hope. (IMPORTANT: Each time you visit this website, delete the browser history on your phone.)
To those in America — Please consider posting a comment to the people reading this about how you feel about their terrible situation. Also, if you have the time, reply directly to their questions to make it easier to find the public information for the State Department and the private rescue groups. I have posted all that information in two links, which are below.
