Texas Sheriff Deputy Jason Jones Dies
Pray for the family of the brave COVID patient who sued a hospital for ivermectin
Update April 11 at 8 p.m. - Jason Jones died today. His wife Erin just told me. God rest his soul.
I am sorry to share this terrible news. Texas Sheriff Deputy Jason Jones, who became nationally known when he sued for ivermectin while hospitalized for COVID, is dying. He is now in hospice.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden said her former patient’s road to recovery has been “bumpy and strenuous.”
I spoke to Jason’s devoted wife Erin, who asked for our prayers. I asked for specific prayer requests. “Just prayers for comfort and peace,” she replied.
My series on Jones began when the 48-year-old was forced into a hospital in Sept. 2021 because his COVID was serious. He spent seven months in Texas Health Huguley Hospital and a rehab center. For four of those months, he was on a ventilator — against his wishes — and in a medically-induced coma.
You read in this story about how Dr. Bowden tried to get him ivermectin. The hospital called the police on the nurse who came to administer the medication. The Joneses lost their lawsuit against the hospital.
Erin secretly applied topical ivermectin on Jason in the hospital.
GoFundMe canceled the fundraiser set up for the Jones family when it was updated about the ivermectin lawsuit. Their friends moved the fundraiser to GiveSendGo.
Deputy Jones was released with great fanfare last May, but he never made a full recovery.
The Joneses have six children. Jason is the sole provider. He worked in the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
Please pray for comfort and peace for Jason, Erin and their children in this awful time of pain and loss.
I’ve opened up the comments to free subscribers today so you can leave notes for the Joneses to read.
Thank you, Ms. Miller, for this series and to Dr. Bowden for fighting for everyone!
Deputy Jones, Mrs. Jones, Jones family, I have prayed and prayed for recovery, I still will.
I shared the story of your brave fight with many friends and family.
I will now add prayers for your family's faith and that you will take strength from each other and quickly reach over and pull each other up. May God Bless and extend your time together.
I worked in Community Outreach At Huguley in the late 90's and early 2000's. I was sickened to hear of this happening in 2021 at my beloved Huguley. The leadership has obviously changed for the worst. I was floored when I learned they would not allow the ivermectin. In my experience with this former 7th Day Adventist run hospital I would have thought they would only fully support it. My heart goes out to this man and his beautiful family. I am so terribly sorry to hear that he is in hospice. I will pray for peace and comfort for Jason and his family.
