I just want to thank you for making two good points in here.

First, medicine and government don't mix well. A doctor giving a patient advice is one thing; telling the government what laws/ordinances/regulations to pass and enforce is entirely different. Doctors often don't consider the legality and constitutionality of their advice when applied to the relationship between elected officials and the citizenry. And I agree with you that many of these doctors came across as if they had all the answers early on when they clearly didn't (and probably should have had the humility to know they didn't have all the answers).

Second, it is refreshing to see you criticize Pres. Trump on a couple of issues, and I agree with you that the pandemic (and handling of it) probably cost him re-election. Things like the Social Security deferral and PPP loans were just bad policies. Not sure where those ideas originated, but really bad fiscal policy in my opinion.

Unfortunately for the medical profession, there actually are people around who take charge of their own health and their own body. I became one of these within the last 12 years. I no longer have the implicit trust for the health professions that I once had. Suffice it to say after years of being medically mismanaged, I finally got wiser and took charge. And I've been a Veterans Health Administration patient since 1991, and since then have gained a wealth of experience, knowledge, and wisdom. Lately a focus on customer service has helped. However, the professionals and I consult and we both attempt to do what is best for me and my health, otherwise, any other way be damned. Advocating for my own self is partly what keeps me going. And while the legal profession has yet to completely catch the drift it still can be used effectively by the consumer as well as the professional. Remember, you are the patient, you are the customer, the customer is always right. Anyone else thinks otherwise, they are fools

Emily, do you think a possible contributing factor to Dr. Facuci’s waning credibility is that he & others doctors we saw on TV everyday we’re caught between politicians’ self interest schemes and real science/medicine? Like you said, we know our understanding of COVID evolves daily?
